Occasionally I go ridiculously excited to share a recipe with y'all. Really, I get ridiculously excited about sharing recipes with you most of the time. Okay, all the time. Haha. But, this recipe for Homemade Caramel Sauce has me especially excited.
You lot know that I don't do diets or completely cutting out foods entirely.
What I do beloved is finding healthier alternatives to satisfy my dessert cravings. I guess you tin can't really call caramel sauce good for you, but there is caramel made of tons of refined sugar, heavy cream and butter…and then there is this caramel made of unsweetened coconut milk, maple syrup and unrefined coconut oil.
Add the fact that information technology is crazy delicious (fifty-fifty amend than it's unhealthy cousin, in my foodie stance), and I call that a serious win.
Yous guys, this caramel sauce is A.MAZ.ING!
It's likewise super easy.
It does have nearly 45 minutes to cook, but it'south not tricky or difficult like the sugary version. I made this yesterday while doing x other things, mostly forgot most it, stirred it occasionally, and actually only paid attention to it for the last 10 minutes and it still turned almost perfectly!

Homemade Caramel Sauce
- 1 can (thirteen.5oz) unsweetened full-fat kokosnoot milk
- ½ cup pure maple syrup

one. Unsweetened Full Fat Coconut Milk: This stuff is fantastic to take in the pantry! Brand sure you purchase the full fat kind and y'all can use it for this caramel sauce, in smoothies, and even make dairy free whipped cream with information technology!
2. Pure Maple Syrup: When we started trying to cut back on refined and processed ingredients, nosotros switched to using honey or pure maple syrup to sweeten our treats. Just make sure you look for pure on the label – it's definitely not the same equally pancake syrup.
3. Nutiva Unrefined Kokosnoot Oil: I did a lot of inquiry on kokosnoot oil and this Nutiva brand is a good rest betwixt quality and price. I've been very happy with the quality and the flavour, only the it isn't outrageously expensive. I buy the big tubs and they last me 4-6 months, fifty-fifty though I apply them often.
